Skyports, Parkin Company PJSC partner to advance air taxi infrastructure in Dubai

Skyports, a leading vertiport infrastructure developer, has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Parkin Company PJSC (Parkin), Dubai’s largest public parking facilities provider, to advance the development of air taxi infrastructure throughout the city.

Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate on the provision of parking facilities at relevant vertiport sites and explore opportunities to develop new air taxi infrastructure within Parkin’s extensive network.

The partnership synergises Parkin’s technological capabilities and expansive parking network with Skyports’ expertise in developing and operating integrated air taxi infrastructure.

According to the companies, access and parking at vertiport sites will be streamlined through Parkin’s advanced access control technologies, payment systems, and enforcement strategies, ensuring a seamless customer experience.

“As the exclusive provider of vertiport infrastructure in Dubai, our partnership with Parkin brings together two companies with highly complementary assets and operations,” said Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports Infrastructure.

“Access to Parkin’s comprehensive footprint will unlock opportunities to develop our vertiport infrastructure throughout the city, accelerating the adoption of integrated, multimodal transport solutions. Our joint commitment to developing new, sustainable technology solutions will facilitate an enhanced passenger experience and support the adoption of air taxi services.”

Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration: “This groundbreaking partnership with Skyports is a testament to Parkin’s market-leading capabilities, proven innovation track record, and commitment to delivering on our growth strategy. As the largest provider of paid public parking facilities and services in Dubai, Parkin has a systemic role in enabling mobility to support the expansion plans of the Emirate.

He further remarked, “Utilising our extensive parking network, the implementation of Skyports’ vertiport infrastructure represents a significant opportunity to expand the capabilities of our platform. With a shared focus on multimodal transport technologies, this collaboration will enhance connectivity for both residents and visitors across our city, while at the same time supporting Dubai’s green mobility ambitions.”

Furthermore, the MoU builds on Skyports’ existing partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Joby Aviation, which aims to launch the world’s first commercial air taxi network by 2026

At the World Congress and Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS World Congress), held in Dubai from 16th to 20th September, H.E. Khaled Al Awadhi, Director of the Transportation Systems Department at the RTA, announced that the first of four planned vertiports for the city’s air taxi service is scheduled to commence operations in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026.

Moreover, the partnership aligns with Dubai’s Green Mobility Strategy and Smart Autonomous Mobility Strategy 2030, both of which aim to enhance the use of electric and autonomous transportation throughout the city.

With nearly three decades of operational excellence, technological expertise, and enforcement capabilities, Parkin is the largest paid public parking facilities and services provider in Dubai, overseeing approximately 200,000 paid parking spaces.

Under a 49-year exclusive agreement, the RTA has granted Parkin the sole rights to operate and manage paid public parking services across Dubai.
