Volar Air Mobility, China-UAE Industrial Zone to build a green aviation ecosystem in the UAE
In a significant step towards shaping the future of sustainable aviation, Volar Air Mobility has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Zone (Jiangsu) to create a comprehensive green aviation ecosystem in the UAE.
The partnership follows the earlier announcement made at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)’s inaugural Advanced Air Mobility Symposium in Montreal this September, where plans for a Green Aviation Technology Hub were unveiled.
The initiative encompasses key areas such as aircraft manufacturing, research and development (R&D), technical training, and innovative green financing solutions.
Advancing green innovation
Furthermore, the alliance aims to position the UAE as a regional anchor for green aviation technology companies, furthering its reputation as a global leader in sustainable and innovative aviation practices.
In addition, it will prioritise the development of next-generation aircraft and infrastructure that minimise environmental impact while addressing the rising demand for eco-friendly air mobility solutions.
Saif Aldarmaki, Founding Partner of Volar Air Mobility Industries, highlighted the project’s dual benefits, stating: “The development of a comprehensive green aviation ecosystem in the UAE will not only advance our environmental goals but also create economic opportunities and position the region as a global leader in sustainable air travel.”
Under the agreement, both companies will launch a Green Aviation Start-up and Acceleration Programme in collaboration with Abu Dhabi University to foster entrepreneurship in sustainable aviation technologies.
Additionally, the partnership will facilitate the establishment of the regional headquarters of the International Association for Green Aviation (IAGA) in Abu Dhabi.
Anwar Hussein, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Volar Air Mobility Industries, underscored the importance of collaboration in driving innovation.
He remarked, “Innovation thrives through collaboration, and this partnership exemplifies our commitment to harnessing advanced technology to create a more sustainable aviation industry. Together, we will lead the charge towards a greener, more efficient future for air travel.”
Zou Yonggang, General Manager of China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation (Jiangsu) Development and Management Ltd., echoed these sentiments.
He added, “This collaboration is expected to attract international green aviation technology companies and pave the way for new economic opportunities, reflecting the UAE’s strategic vision for sustainability, innovation, and leadership in clean energy.”
Moreover, during ICAO AAM 2024, Volar Air Mobility partnered with Etihad Aviation Training to advance R&D in electric aircraft technology, sustainability projects, and regulatory engagement with UAE authorities.
