India: SkyDrive Signs Agreement with JetSetGo “to Develop Commercial eVTOL Routes in Gujarat, Receives Pre-order for 50 eVTOL Aircraft”
SkyDrive, a Japanese eVTOL developer, announced this week the signing of a collaboration with India-based JetSetGo Aviation, a private jet operator, to explore new business opportunities, initially in the state of Gujarat and later other locations across India, reports a press release. JetSetGo has also agreed to a pre-order of 50 units of the SkyDrive SD-05 aircraft, which will be the company’s first commercially certified flying taxi.
Through the partnership, the two companies will introduce eVTOL technology in India. Both will assess the commercial potential for such operations centred around the wider Ahmedabad area, as well as the potential for wider expansion of route networks to other locations within Gujarat and elsewhere.
Tomohiro Fukuzawa, CEO of SkyDrive, commented, “Together, we aim to tackle some of India’s pressing mobility-related challenges, including the high level of transport-related emissions and the inefficiencies of urban traffic congestion, also in collaboration with Suzuki Motor Corps.”
Kanika Tekriwal, CEO and co-Founder of JetSetGo, remarked, “We’ve always believed in pushing the envelope when it comes to aviation, bringing new, sustainable solutions to India. This partnership takes that belief to the next level.” Adding, “This isn’t just about the future of aviation. It’s about changing the way we travel in India.”

SkyDrive has been exploring the development of the Indian market and its potential use cases since 2022. A partnership with the Government of Gujarat began in January 2024 to combat the large volume of greenhouse gas emissions caused by road traffic and other forms of transport, as well as the long-standing issue of extreme urban congestion.
