AutoFlight secures order for 12 large eVTOLs

AutoFlight, a China-based electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) startup, has secured an order for 12 large eVTOLs, worth approximately $21.5 million, from Wuhan Hanyang Investment Development Group.

The order comprises two aircraft models—the CarryAll autonomous aircraft and the five-seater Prosperity

The companies aim to conduct low-altitude and unmanned operations within the Hanyang district, advancing the adoption of large-scale eVTOLs in the region.

Initial operations will focus on logistics, emergency response, and fire rescue services, with plans to expand low-altitude and cultural tourism services throughout the district.

Furthermore, the companies will commence the project with manned flight demonstrations along the approved aerial tour route on the Yangtze River’s north bank.

They will then gradually expand their eVTOL network to connect eight surrounding districts, creating a 30-minute urban air mobility circle.

Moreover, both companies aim to establish the first integrated transportation mode combining eVTOL and high-speed rail services.

In addition, as a part of the broader partnership, AutoFlight and the Hanyang District Government will establish a Central China regional hub for aircraft production, testing, sales, and delivery.

AutoFlight has already secured type and production certificates for its CarryAll eVTOL and is aiming to start the aircraft deliveries in March.

Meanwhile, its Prosperity eVTOL is currently undergoing airworthiness certification, with commercial operations targeted for 2026.

Last year, the company achieved a significant milestone in the Middle East. In May 2024, AutoFlight successfully completed the maiden flight of CarryAll eVTOL in the UAE.

The two-metric-ton aircraft flew 123 kilometres from Al Ain, maintaining a 41-minute flight on a single charge.

It demonstrated the endurance and reliability of eVTOL technology under challenging desert conditions.
