AutoFlight breaks ground on new eVTOL assembly facility in Wuhan

On April 10, China-based electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft manufacturer, AutoFlight, started the construction of its new assembly and exhibition facility in Wuhan. The new site marks the manufacturer’s first production footprint in Central China.

The move is a part of a broader cooperative framework between AutoFlight and Hanyang District aimed at accelerating the development of China’s low-altitude economy.

Together, the alliance plans to establish a model demonstration zone that supports growth in this emerging sector.

Expanding eVTOL Capabilities and Commercial Operations

The new facility will be responsible for a wide range of functions, including aircraft final assembly, ground and flight testing, product delivery, sales and service, as well as exhibition activities.

In addition, it will serve as a central platform for showcasing AutoFlight’s product portfolio.

Furthermore, the company will work closely with local authorities to support demonstration flights and other specialised low-altitude operations in Wuhan.

In February, AutoFlight secured an order for 12 large eVTOLs, comprising two aircraft models—the CarryAll autonomous aircraft and the five-seater Prosperity, from Wuhan Hanayang Investment Development Group.

The companies will begin initial operations in air logistics, emergency response, and fire rescue services, with plans to expand into low-altitude and cultural tourism across the district.

Moreover, at the groundbreaking ceremony, Wan Xunan, President of the China United Nations Procurement Promotion Association, announced that Hanayang Investment Group has officially become the first registered supplier of eVTOL aircraft for the United Nations procurement.

Additionally, the group will support AutoFlight’s international expansion.

It will facilitate the distribution of the company’s eVTOL aircraft through the Belt and Road Initiative, with a particular focus on Central Asian markets.

AutoFlight has already secured both type and production certificates for its CarryAll eVTOL.

Meanwhile, its Prosperity eVTOL is undergoing airworthiness certification, with commercial operations expected to begin in 2026.

Last year in May, the company successfully completed the maiden flight of the CarryAll eVTOL.

The two-metric-ton aircraft covered a distance of 123 kilometres from Al Ain, sustaining a 41-minute flight on a single charge.
