Japan: “SkyDrive Full-Scale eVTOL Mock-Up Showcases at Osaka Expo”
Japan-based SkyDrive is showcasing a full-scale mock-up of its SD-05 eVTOL at the Osaka Expo, Kansai, reports a press release. Displayed at the Advanced Air Mobility Station Pavilion, the public first require a reservation to board the eVTOL and sit in its seats.
Last week, SkyDrive had conducted a remote-piloted, four-minute long, demonstration flight of its aircraft above the Expo vertiport for the attending media. This came about after the subway operator, Osaka Metro, who is an investor in the eVTOL company, had completed the OSAKAKO construction. There are further planned flights during the six-month long event.
Takumi Yamamoto, the SkyDrive Design Director, commented, “Our eVTOL design embodies a vision for greater freedom of movement through easy, everyday access to the sky and to achieve a strong balance between functionality and beauty.”
He continued, “eVTOLs will not only revolutionise transportation, they will also change the relationship between urban and natural environments, bringing people closer together. We hope our aircraft will create new possibilities and connections as we enter a new era of smooth and seamless everyday air travel.”
