“REGENT, HITRANS Collaborate on Feasibility of Seaglider Vessels for North Scotland Coastal Travel”
REGENT Craft, a developer and manufacturer of Seaglider vessels, recently announced a collaboration with Scotland-based HITRANS (Highlands and Islands Transport), to explore potential maritime operations in the region, reports a press release.
The partnership is to focus on data sharing and aims to explore how Seaglider craft could improve the transportation network in Scotland, bringing benefits to people and to the environment via ease of travel and reduction of CO2 emissions.

Background
HITRANS is the regional transport partnership for Na h-Eileanan Siar (Western Isles), Highland, Moray, Orkney Islands and Argyll and Bute. It was created through the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 and is one of 7 regional transport partnerships in Scotland.
The organisation covers the largest area of any such partnership in the country, covering around 50 percent of its total landmass. The company’s Regional Strategy was first approved by Scottish Ministers in 2008.
