“Is VT35 a Gamechanger for EHang?”
What a social media fanfare it’s been for EHang in recent days. X has been the primary outlet from brief VT35 video teasers to tantalising aircraft glimpses. Then the reveal on Monday morning. A 1’ 24” video on X, also posted on the front page of EHang’s website.
Let’s be honest, the far too longstanding EH216-S was not only withering on the aviation vine, looking jaded and somewhat weary, but where was it going? A tourist futuristic flying freak show.
Once five hundred UAVs had been purchased or hired by different Chinese tourism boards and after the public experience an autonomous scenic adventure, the novelty wears off. The EH216-S was on a financial journey to no-where.
So, many congratulations to EHang. Not only could the eVTOL VT35 save the company from future financial difficulty, but finally it is competing with the global big boys. The future promise is there for all too see. The company has grown up.
The posted video shown before an official presentation in Hefei, China, where the company has established a new industrial base for the aircraft, offers the EHang shareholder a huge ray of hope and optimism.

Spot the difference!
The company describe the VT35 as a “next-generation long-range pilotless passenger eVTOL”. It seems to be an evolution of the earlier VT30 demonstrator, first unveiled in September 2021, and which introduced fixed wings to improve endurance compared to the company’s original multi-copter concept.
According to EHang’s media thrust, the VT35 is designed for “cross-city, over-water, and mountainous routes, signalling ambitions for longer-range regional operations.”
The Hefei municipal government confirmed in August that the city will host the HQ, production facilities and test operations of the VT35 series. The project represents a total investment of USD140 million, with up to USD70 million in government support through orders, investments and supply chain cooperation.

The VT35 has given EHang a new confidence and ambition
The unveiling follows a landmark year for EHang’s commercial efforts. In March 2025, the company announced that its subsidiaries, Guangdong EHang General Aviation and Hefei HeYi Aviation, had received Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), enabling passenger flights with the EH216-S eVTOL.
The EH216-S became the first pilotless passenger eVTOL authorized for commercial operations, operating in limited contexts such as sightseeing flights and demonstration routes.
The VT35 now aims to extend this certified foundation toward higher-capacity and longer-range applications.
